This year, Call of Duty is back with a bang, as Activision decides to remake Modern Warfare, but with new graphics, gameplay options and a bunch of extra multiplayer add-ons.
An epic new trailer, as well as a release date and a bunch of pre-order special editions of the game were announced last night (May 30) ahead of E3, where we will presumably see a bit more gameplay.
The action-packed trailer saw some of our favourite characters, like Captain Price, battle it out across the Middle East, London and the rest of Europe, in what looks like a retelling of the incredibly popular Modern Warfare series.
There's also good news for multiplayer fans, as Activision has confirmed it will allow cross-play across PS4, Xbox One and PC – and the company is finally getting rid of the Season Pass trend by delivering free maps and content post launch.
Check out all the pre-order details below.
The new Modern Warfare game will see you take control of an elite task force of Tier One operators who are battling to keep global peace.
It appears the single player will be as emotionally engaging and over the top as ever, with Infinity Ward working to bring a total reimagining of the beloved Modern Warfare series from the ground up.
As mentioned, pre-orders for CoD: Modern Warfare are up and running right now, ready for a release date on October 25.
GAME has a great exclusive UK deal on at the moment that will get you a super cool Captain Price figurine and double the XP when playing multiplayer if you pre-order.
If you pre-order now, you can save yourself £9.99 on both Xbox One and PS4 and pay £49.99 right now.
Amazon is also offering the same pre-order bonus on both the PS4 and Xbox One for that price, giving you double XP and a limited edition figurine for £49.99.
As mentioned, this Call of Duty will not have a Season Pass, but all future maps and updates will be free – which is great news.
Most players have grown frustrated by the continuing loot-box trend and endless DLC disguised as Season Passes, so it's refreshing to see Activision and Infinity Ward doing away with it for Modern Warfare.
We are also *VERY* excited by cross-play support.
Call of Duty never suffered from a lack of players, but we're keen to see if other games follow suit, and start to support cross-play for a more integrated experience.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare releases on Xbox One, PS4 and PC on October 25.
